California Landscape Oil Painting - Pasadena San Gabriel View
Overlooking Pasadena
14 x 11 oil on canvas
Stately eucalyptus trees line a path overlooking Pasadena/Altadena, looking east and north toward the San Gabriel Mountains. The branches catch the early morning light.

I wish our skies looked like this today. Instead we have angry skies filled with smoke as the Angeles National Forest burns above my home town of La Canada. They say that it will take a week to get the blaze fully contained. I’m hoping that the part of the fireline approaching homes will be extinguished long before that. It just makes us too nervous to see flames so close by.
From the 2 freeway as you drive into La Canada, you see nothing but a canopy of trees - they are so densely grown together. Eucalyptus, pine, palms, deodars - fire could easily jump from treetop to treetop. I hope it doesn’t get loose down here in the foothills. Fortunately the wind is cooperating … so far.

Karen!!
This is one of your best!!! Love it!!!
The light on the sides of the tree trunks and the shadows and the receding background hills… Really nice painting!
