Beneath the Bridge - Pasadena - Arroyo Seco -Daily Painting

March 1st, 2008

First Prize - “Beneath the Bridge” 5 x 7 inches oil on panel

Yesterday I got the notification that this painting received First Prize in an annual Small Images show competition for the Verdugo Hills Art Association. The show is hanging until late March at the Pasadena Public Library in Pasadena California. It depicts one of the two bridges that span the Arroyo Seco.

  1. Congrats, Karen. You managed to get
the foliage that is seen through the
bridge done in such a way that the
view has plenty of space and the
picture does not feel at all crowded.
The water and reflection in the fore-
    ground are delightful.

  2. Great news! Good for you.
That’s a great area. This one would look big too.

  4. Congrats! I always enjoy seeing your paintings of the Arroyo (grew up only a block away.) BUT, here’s a picky nit– Can’t imagine that the light actually looked like it was coming from so low…unless it was beaming out from a “new” cave on the San Rafael side!!

  5. Yeah for you!!! Looks like a lot of detail in such a small painting! BTW, I lived yesterday’s painting, soft light and beautiful!
