Center Stage - Descanso Gardens

September 16th, 2007

Center Stage Descanso 9 x 12 oil on canvasboard

Today, instead of doing another watercolor I brought out my oil painting kit to do an impressionistic version of the center planter right near the Descanso entrance.

There aren’t any vast flowerbeds in bloom where we are, near the Carriage House, so I used as inspiration a photo I took in the springtime when the pansies and California poppies were in full bloom.

  1. Karen, this is so beautiful and colorful. It is so much fun to work in the gallery with people around. Sounds like your show is going well. Whooooo hooooo.

  2. Karen, Wow! You’ve been so prolific lately. I love the coneflowers. (I love Fealing too!) You did a great job there! And Center Stage at Descanso… it feels like I’m standing there! I also love the tulips!

Good luck with the show. I hope to drop in this week.

  3. This painting is really beautiful. I like the impressionistic flowers and the saturated foreground colors balancing the background. Well done!
