Illo Friday - Spotted Dick

April 24th, 2006

A week or so ago, the Illustration Friday theme was “Spotted” and my first thought was of that British raisin pudding called Spotted Dick.
(No, really, there IS such a thing …. See the dick here.)

However, I didn’t feel like drawing a can of suet and sultanas. But I still loved the sound of the name.
And then I thought of another dick, and what he would look like when he got really really old.
And then I chickened out from posting it on IF, because I don’t want to end up on a blacklist for offending everyone. I am such a wuss.
So I hope you all enjoy this Spotted Dick head, in honor of pudding enthusiasts everywhere.

  4. Looks like his spottiness could well be attributed to the fact that he himself has been peppered while out hunting.

  5. Great expression, that’s so clever!! That’s a funny site too with all the English foods - spotted dick shouldn’t really come in a tin!

  6. Love it. I will never think of “spotted dick” without associating it with the big dick in office. :-)
