Another trail

Monday, June 20th, 2005

I’m at the beginning of another week where it’s unlikely I’ll get out of the office very much. Rather than let more days go by without updating things here, I opened up a reference photo I had taken of a local arroyo area and did this quick sketch in Painter. It was about a […]

Illo Friday - Black and White

Right-click (pc) or control-click Mac to enlarge images
This is an oldie. Well, 2 years old or so. It’s a soft-block carving of Kwan Yin, the Chinese goddess of compassion. I have used this carving in many different iterations - scanned and incorporated into a digital collage …
and …..

Several different looks, but one original […]

Pinch o wawa?

A quick Photoshop painting of a pup of a friend of mine. He was a foundling, given to her by a friend. His name is “Bito” or “Beetle,” a nickname of Dumbito. The ears aren’t too big in this picture, but they are in real life, hence the Dumbito name.
Bito seems to […]

Yeah, I felt it.

Thursday, June 16th, 2005

Yeah we felt it. At first they said it was a 5.3 but now they’ve downgraded it to a 4.8.
Heh-heh-heh (you’ve got to say that with a sort of cavalier devil-may-care attitude.) We scoff at anything under 5.
Sorry for the crappy rendering. I was drawing under the (tremor) influence.
Edited to add: The TVs are […]

Concertgoers

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

After a long day of work, we headed over to Hollywood and Highland for a free outdoor Gerald Wilson concert and charity wine tasting. It was SRO and we were lucky to find a tall table to stand at, and squeeze out a corner. The band was too far away to draw much, especially as […]

Jacaranda blossom

One of the sure signs of summer is the vision of jacaranda trees in bloom, when their blossoms litter the streets with a purple haze. I picked this one up in a market parking lot and drew it while my dear husband (dh) ran in for peanut butter and milk. One […]

Face of rage

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

Let’s not call it rage. Let’s call it mild annoyance.
I tried a free paint application for the PC and Mac called Art Rage. It’s a new release and VERY generously offered free by the developers.
ArtRage Link
The only problem is, after spending some time painting something (an orange) and thinking that the file had been successfully […]

A digital painting experiment - and a step by step

Wednesday, June 8th, 2005

Click the picture to go to the step by step
Prompted by a discussion on the everydaymatters list about Photoshop vs. Painter as a painting tool … (and because it’s been a month since I’ve updated my journal pages … I did a little experiment today starting with pencil sketch and then […]

Illo Friday - Summer

Painted last week, but on topic for Illo Friday …
Check back later for something else new for summer …

California dreaming
