TV sketching

June 24th, 2005

Often in the evenings (when I’m not working late on a project) we’ll turn on The Music Channel component of our cable TV, where my husband’s favorite is the Jazz Channel. Last night I was looking for something to draw while we relaxed, and this musician’s bio page came on the screen while a cut from one of his CDs played.

I liked the high-key look of the accompanying photo and started drawing it when it disappeared. Thanks to Tivo we backed it up and parked on the photo for a minute or two . I wasn’t familiar with him as an artist, (he’s a jazz bassist) but I liked what I heard.

(Black ink, ATOH Japanese brush pen)
